Favourite MDC Resorts
What have your favourite MDC resorts been getting up to lately?
Each year, the VRS Resort Management Teams dutifully identifies and takes note of areas that need attention, or improvement, at the resorts; and then plans are implemented so that all our valued guests always have the best stay possible at their home-away-from-home.
Without further ado, allow us to update you with the latest goings-on at your favourite club resorts.
Sandy Place
The pool upgrade has been completed and summer is arriving on schedule to enjoy the crystal clear waters at your new favourite Sandy Place hangout. The big and bulky chest freezers have been removed from each unit to offer more space and manoeuvrability for all our guests. But fear not, if you are planning on turning one little worm into a whole case of fish, the freezers are available on request. To arrange a freezer in your unit, please notify Reception prior to your arrival.
All the units are sporting lovely new linen and all patios have been furnished with new chairs. In addition, new door hooks have been installed behind all bedroom and bathroom doors.
And more good news! Wi-Fi is up and running at the info-net lounge. Please enquire at Reception upon arrival for access and specifics.
Mount Amanzi
If you’re a foodie, we’ve got news for you… Freshly baked ‘boerebrood’ and chicken rotisseries are becoming Mount Amanzi’s flagship. Song-writer or not, their bread will have you “singin’ sweet songs of melodies pure and true“. And that’s not all – there are daily specials at the restaurant to further tantalise your taste buds.
With their eye on the future, the Mount Amanzi Team have planted 25 new trees, including Hibiscus, Wild Peach, Coral, White-Iron, White Cape Beech, Outeniqua Yellowwood, Cape Mahogany, African Holly, Pompon and Wild Chestnut Trees.
Of course, the units also got some love and attention. Mount Amanzi replaced 42 fridges, 35 microwaves, and bread bins and cutlery in all units. On the resort grounds, the tennis courts have been resurfaced, a new air-hockey machine made its way into the Games Room, new signage is visible throughout the Resort and the gardens are looking great with new automatic irrigation systems.
Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge
Generating a lot of giggles on their Facebook page – Crystal Springs has recently been visited by a leopard, spotted and photographed from unit 24, and a little Cape Wolf Snake. But, don’t let these beauties of nature scare you off. Take a walk on the wild side and experience the game and birdlife this mountain gem has to offer.
Being a high altitude destination, guests woke up to a snow white Crystal Springs earlier in the year, which made the new railings throughout the resort super-handy. The spa area also recently got a bit of TLC. Coupled with monthly Spa specials – Crystal Springs has you covered from ‘chilling’ to ‘thrilling’.
Mabalingwe Nature Reserve
Growing up in a South African family means that you reminisce over the days you would walk into “ouma se kombuis” and find treats and warm drinks you couldn’t refuse. Mabalingwe is bringing back that nostalgic feeling with their Boeretroos Coffee Shop. On the topic of yummy eats, Le Fera Restaurant has also seen some improvements. The Restaurant has been adorned with new tables and chairs in soft hues of off-white and grey. The Mom’s Night Off Menu has been tweaked to provide new options the whole family will enjoy.
The Vulture’s View Bar has been opened on the viewing deck. This little gem, tucked away and elevated over the landscape, like the nest of these fascinating creatures it has been named after, has a majestic view over the Nature Reserve and offers guests the perfect spot to sit, relax and enjoy refreshments as the sun sets on the horizon. Nibble on a light lunch with an ice cold drink in your hand, overlooking the Mabalingwe landscape, or round up family and friends for any one of the weekly specials and refreshing cocktails. Try the signature cocktail: The Vulture! Or pop on over to Kalahari Oasis and check out the revamped interior.
