In this issue, we’re heading off to the South Coast in KwaZulu Natal.

Everyone loves the Golden Mile in Durban, Umhlanga beach, Ballito beach, and the usual tourist hotspots, but not everyone has explored the 120 km stretch of beautiful beaches, just a bit further south.

Tourists come to the South Coast to enjoy the pristine beaches, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, sub-tropical forests and vegetation, estuaries and lagoons, rocky coves, year-round sunny and ideal weather, and adventure sports.

And that’s not all…

Your MDC portfolio gives you access to some wonderful accommodation options on the South Coast!

Kridzil Holiday Apartments is situated in Margate, a delightful and well-loved seaside town. The comfortable self-catering apartments are just 300 m from the main beach and are within walking distance to a variety of night spots and restaurants, certain to entice both young and old. Immerse yourself in this quaint little seaside town, as you explore the wonder it beholds.
Uvongo River Resort is located in the heart of the Hibiscus Coast - the perfect location from which to setup base and explore your surroundings. Enjoy spacious, luxury accommodation with private patios and a beautiful feature swimming pool. Uvongo beach and the picturesque lagoon are both within 400 m of the resort and offer swimming, canoeing and paddle boating. A little bit further away, you can enjoy fishing and scuba diving on Shelly Beach or visit the Uvongo Bird Park.
Caribbean Estates is a mere stone’s throw away from Port Edward and is bordered by a beautiful beach on the one side and on the other, the picturesque sight of the mighty Umtamvuna River. It is an absolutely perfect destination for the whole family as it offers scenic walkways, an onsite wellness spa, jungle gyms, three swimming pools, and more, and has all the nearby facilities needed to make your holiday most enjoyable.
Pack your costumes, sunscreen and shades and come enjoy an extraordinary family holiday in great accommodation at the South Coast.

Ideal game viewing: June, July, August (winter months).

If you want to see new-born animals, then September/October is the best time to visit.

The famous Sardine Run is a unique natural phenomenon where millions of sardines travel from the Cape to Kwa-Zulu Natal and cause a feeding frenzy that attracts thousands of predators such as sharks, dolphins, whales and birdlife: Between May and July.
Witness Pretoria painted in purple, as 70 000 Jacarandas start blooming in spring each year: September to mid-November.
Wake up and smell the wild flowers in the Cederberg: September and October.
Watch the whales blow, breach, lob tail or spy hop along the Western Cape Coast: July and August are the best times (typically occurs between June and Nov).
Witness the transformation of the usually desert-like Namaqualand into a colourful daisy wonderland: August and September are the best times to go.
Experience the century-old Zulu reed dance tradition in Zululand, especially if you’re looking for a rich cultural experience: takes place in September every year.
Spring and autumn are also the best times to go fly-fishing.

Skilled African Blessings Team members go out into the nearby communities to teach individuals how to farm according to the Foundations for Farming Principles.

The Foundations for Farming initiative is an on-going activity in the communities. The training sessions occur twice a year over two days where community members are encouraged to attend. Skills training includes how to farm sustainably and productively in order to yield nutritious crops.

The African Blessings Team contributes on-going support, training and encouragement in order to help create, maintain and sustain personal food gardens. With the skills and knowledge they have available we foresee great changes and upliftment in South Africa, one community at a time.
